2012 Harbor Cruise

Joey planned a nice little “date night” for us to take a “Wine Tasting” harbor cruise in Dana Point. We drove down to the harbor, arriving there just before 5pm.The boat was scheduled to leave at 5:30pm so we checked in for the harbor cruise and since we had a little time we walked around a little bit, checking out the boats beforehand. I love boats and it’s really fun for me to dream about owning a nice big yacht someday to sail around the Mediterranean or Bahamas in. There were many there that would do me just fine 😉  I also really enjoyed seeing all the little dogs that were out for their nightly walk! Of course, I had to stop and kiss them all 🙂

When it was time for the cruise we got in line to board along with about 20 other people. It was nice because it wasn’t too crowded, probably because the weather had been a little iffy that weekend. My guess is people probably feared it might rain but as it turned out the weather was perfect. It was an early spring evening, a little chilly, but the skies were clear and the sun was still shining through…and there was very little wind! The boat got quickly underway, gliding out into the harbor. The crew set out some cheese, crackers, fruit and brownies for us to snack on. We helped ourselves to some snacks, sat down on some cushioned seats at the bow of the boat (and took a few pictures) before finally going to the bar to try a sampling of wines. There were four “organic” Italian wines to try…a sparkling wine, one white and two reds. The pours were decent sized too! The wines were…okay. Not great, but not bad either. We chatted with a few of the other couples on board and Joey and I oooh’d and ahhh’d at all the boats parked around us. It’s quite a kick to see what people name their boats! The cruise around the harbor lasted about 90 minutes so it was a nice time for us just to chat and spend time together.

After the cruise we stopped in at the Wind & Sea Restaurant right there at the harbor. We sat outside because the view was so pretty and it still wasn’t that cold, although they did have some great outdoor heaters too. We ordered some appetizers, another glass of wine for me, and a beer for Joey and just hung out for quite a while chatting. Soooo, if you’re ever wondering what to do with your sweetie, I’d say this night was a winner 😉
